Maison Margiela Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2017 – Maison Margiela emanates modernity and artistic license, providing a sensorial explosion through the use of bright colours, cut outs and layering. A variety of fabric is used in conjunction with bare skin in order to create cohesion between the pieces and the models themselves. Cut outs coupled with dark headpieces create a sci-fi feel, whilst breathtaking designs and attachments of different faces work to simultaneously unsettle and astonish. The models become a canvas, with harshly drawn black outlines, dark lips and bright eyes all working as part of the makeup itself in order to create something seemingly inhuman. Alongside masks and blue lipstick, detailed veils work to blur and distort the face by adding an unsettling dimension. Blood red compilations of different material provides a violent affront on the senses, making the collection on both breathtaking and compelling to watch.
