Lanvin
Lanvin Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – Feeling the effects of Alber Elbaz’s sudden exit from Lanvin, the autumn winter ‘16 collection showcased a wide variety of elegant eveningwear options.
There was a little bit of everything on offer on the catwalk, with shiny and shimmery fabrics often favoured. Dresses ranged from embroidered cut out styles to metallic more floaty designs, all linked by their naturalwaist silhouettes and faded mineral tones.
The brand also brought bustiers back to the runway in similar fabrics, updated by modern tailoring and ruffles over loose fitting checked suit trousers. This sense of movement was strengthened further by the chiffon frills and layering of the other designs, with was emphasised by the combining of different fabrics such as lace into the pieces.
The finale look, for example, integrated delicate black and offwhite lace elements with metallic scalelike sleeves and silk detailing to produce a simultaneously glamorous and reptilian look.
Accessories were also important components of the designs with oversized jewelled chokers and feathered metal earrings regularly staples, adding even more glamour to the eveningwear pieces in a nod to autumnal tones and shapes.
Moreover, shoe styles ranged from particularly embellished high heels to striking heeled boots with fabric bow detailing and even completely flat versions, emphasising an attempt to both dress up and dress down the elegant pieces.
