Elie Saab
Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2016 – This season’s couture collection from Elie Saab opened to an abundance of regal, romantic pieces in white and cool lavendar. A pale iris jacket, detailed in beads and lace, was worn with a pair of silk pants with a train, tucked into purple leather combat boots that matched a belted pouch worn at the waist. A later dress seemed comprised solely of details – layers of lace beneath layers of beaded fringe that fell to the ankles were belted by a structured girdle. Dresses in a cloudily-patterned silk appeared alter, paired with a bead-encrusted vest in one instance, and a simple, pale-brown harness in another.
While dresses and gowns were the primary components of the fifty looks that made up this season, numerous tailored jackets and graceful slacks crossed the catwalk, featuring trains or a sweeping skirt.
Belled sleeves, fringed calf boots, sandals, jeweled headbands, heavily ringed fingers and flowing locks leant a bohemian air to the runway style. Dainty and feminine, this show was a study in pale violets and light tones – Elie Saab delivers a floral echo of past collections.
