Dries Van Noten
Dries Van Noten Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Dries Van Noten delivered a colourful treasure trove aimed at rediscovering stand out pieces from past collections: an audacious celebration that tracked individuality throughout the years.
What was particularly interesting about Dries Van Noten’s collection, despite providing a diverse selection of styles and patterns, was an effort to feature a varied range of models, with many being over the typical age most designers stick with: a subtle nod to what has come before it. The marking of a 100th show milestone was evident from the contrast between some of the retro yellow and green pieces and the more minimalist overcoats.
Layering was a technique that Dries Van Noten ran away with this season, featuring pieces such as a sleek, tailored jackets worn on top of oversized denim jeans, as well as a metallic, wide peak lapelled suit, shrouded in grey furs to give a certain warmth to the otherwise masculine silhouette.
An array of prints was also offered, with everything from a bold quilted bomber jacket with an almost bohemian edge, to geometric combinations of stand out colours, to an almost paint splattered, bejewel necked dress.
