Dolce & Gabbana
Dolce & Gabbana Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – A celebration of parenthood, Dolce & Gabbana’s FW17 show was aptly titled “A Family Affair.” Models walked with toddlers in their arms, sisters walked hand-in-hand, and couples strode in love and merry — a true embrace of the theme. As for the clothes it was a high-octane mix of playfully adored jackets, vividly printed suits and skillfully crafted dresses. Leopard-print, the label’s signature motif, featured heavily. But it served to add fun as opposed to sex to the looks. Florals were also big for this collection — there was no winter gloom to be found here. Only bold prints, glittering embellishments, and sumptuously tailored dresses and suits. Oh, and joy. Did I mention joy? The accessories were equally alluring. They showcased a set of gilded crowns and even headphones — another collaboration with FRENDS we surmise. Dolce & Gabbana’s show was over-the-top and boisterous, in ways that only Domenico and Stefano could make charming. There were many pieces that stuck out to us, but if we had to choose a favorite, it would be the panelled brocade and velvet suit that came down mid-show. It was stately yet charismatic. Topped with the jewel-encrusted floral crown it looked like the perfect outfit for going to the opera or some other special event — especially if you aren’t a dress girl. And that was the magic of this collection. There was something for every woman and man. For every style, vibe, and attitude.
