Chanel Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2016-17 – Lagerfeld has really outdone himself with his vision of the professional collection. Seeking inspiration from previous Chanel collections, this collection follows the same direction with the embroidery creating a tweed effect. The collection features oversized culottes and jackets with accentuated waists creating clean lines and a figure-flattering silhouette. Lagerfelds intentions were clear; to create bold elegance perhaps even harking back to the days of Coco Chanel. Each piece in the collection is different featuring the most impeccable details a classic Chanel feature. Lagerfeld works with a bold eye and dramatic up do to perhaps enhance this idea of haute elegance. The garments prove themselves to be captivating with elements of bold detail such as the use of crystals, for added drama. The use of layers is also a prominent element in this collection, Lagerfeld uses these layers to frame the shape of the woman’s body reasserting this sense of empowerment.
