Anya Hindmarch
Anya Hindmarch Women Autumn-Winter 2015 – ‘Expect severe delays’ warned Anya Hindmarch’s invitation however when the designer ran behind schedule, Hindmarch admitted that perhaps her invite was a little “too accurate” in a tweet.
But the designer needn’t have worried, as thanks to a Little Chef partnership guests were catered for with a box of pastries and other breakfast treats. As they pieced together the restaurant clues, title ‘Diversion’ and the idea of delays, it became apparent that Hindmarch’s latest collection embodied a roadside theme – confirmed in show notes quoting the M25 as the designer’s guiding influence.
Whilst the collection didn’t divert away from signature bold graphics and logos, Hindmarch demonstrated creativity through the incorporation of road signs, traffic light coloured schemes and radio announcements. Turned into the three lanes of the motorway, the designer debuted a ready-to-wear clothing line as models cleverly switched lines whilst manoeuvring the runway. While red fur coats bore the word ‘STOP’ and green furs ‘GO’, the collection presented matching bags as well as others imprinted with roundabout, men at work and others signals found on the road.
Rounding off with ‘Have a Nice Day’ light signals and London’s Gay Men’s Chorus providing a singsong, the British motorway has never looked so fun.
