Alexandre Vauthier
Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2016 – Alexandre Vauthier drew the focus to thighs in this collection, offering ample visage between thigh-high boots and miniskirts, or sky-high slit dresses. Black was the dominant color in this collection, broken up by appearances of olive green, cherry red, stark white and cloudy grey.
An oversized jacket paired with a turtleneck mini-dress and black suede boots opened the collection, introducing the assertive presence the little black dress would maintain throughout.
A militaristic air pervaded, in trousers with oversized pockets that brought cargo pants to mind, paired in one instance with a spotted wifebeater and tightly-laced heels. Leopard-print lace left little to the imagination, presented in another pair of trousers, and in a one-sleeved cocktail dress belted with a satin ribbon.
An especially notable piece was the cherry-red, latex jumpsuit adorned with zippers, bringing to mind the Thriller-era Michael Jackson look. This was between two other latex looks, a black and an olive green dress with prominent lapels and oversized sleeves rolled past the elbow.
Between the militaric looks, the dark and mysterious pieces, and the sexy leopard print lace came instances of romance in flowing gowns of sheer silk and satin ribbon, or slinky evening dresses that recalled disco-era glamour.
All in all, there was no lack of sex or glamour in this collection – it’s simply a matter of choosing your flavor.
