Paul McCartney’s new video is fashion star-studded dance fest

Musician Sir Paul McCartney is always ready to provide stylish catwalk support and is known as a regular front row fixture at his daughter Stella McCartney’s runway shows and collection launches. But now it looks like the fashion world has returned the favor.

Models Lily Cole and Kate Moss and fashion designer Tom Ford are just three of the big names to feature in the four-minute-long music video, which also stars Academy Award-winning actors Meryl Streep and Sean Penn. As if that wasn’t enough, fellow thespians Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Alice Eve rocked up to the shoot too. Thirty-nine-year-old Moss was in particularly ebullient form, posing and dancing seductively on top of Sir Paul’s piano.

It’s taking us back to the 1990s, when Guns ‘n’ Roses’ melodramatic film for “November Rain” famously starred Stephanie Seymour, and Danish model Helena Christensen seduced Chris Isaak in the 1991 video to “Wicked Game.”

Perhaps the best known fashion and music video crossover is George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90“. Featuring a stellar cast of the original supermodels, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington, and Cindy Crawford all lip-sync to Michael’s hit.

Of course both Moss and Cole have been in action since then, with the Croydon-born superstar featuring in a seductive promo video, shot by Sofia Coppola, for The White Stripes’ 2003 garage rock version of “I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself.” Earlier this year Lily Cole appeared in the Megaforce-directed video to “Sacrilege” by New York art-rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
