Opening Ceremony releasing collection based on Spike Jonze film character

The director of “Being John Malkovich” and “Where the Wild Things Are” has got an exciting new film out later this year, which is being given a fun fashion twist by Opening Ceremony and Kenzo designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon.

Set in the near future, “Her” sees actor Joaquin Phoenix playing Theodore Twombly, a man who slowly falls in love with his artificial intelligence assistant, a sort of Siri 2.0, voiced by Scarlett Johansson.

To celebrate the film, Opening Ceremony creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have created a capsule collection inspired by Twombly’s look. Available from December 1 in Opening Ceremony stores in NYC and Los Angeles (followed by London) as well as online, the line will feature plenty of ‘geek-chic’ pieces including button-front shirts and shearling coats.

The film’s trailer shows off some of Twombly’s style and also features tracks from Aphex Twin and Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O, while the main film boasts a full score by Arcade Fire.

Opening Ceremony previously teamed up with Jonze to release a line of clothing and accessories inspired by the director’s 2009 big-screen adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are.”
