Jonah Hill and Spike Jonze to stage play for Opening Ceremony during NYFW
According to WWD, Hill and Jonze are co-writing a one-act play for Opening Ceremony which will be staged during the city’s upcoming fashion week.
Jonze has a longstanding relationship with the brand’s creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, with the designers having created capsule collections for his last two movies.
As well as co-writing, Jonze will be directing the one-off, one-act show.
“We were really excited about him writing an original script and seeing how this would take shape,” Leon told WWD.
The play will be staged on September 7 in lieu of the brand’s usual fashion show.
Forty-four-year-old Jonze won this year’s Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for his movie “Her,” while 30-year-old comic Hill’s turn in “The Wolf of Wall Street” saw him pick up a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Jonze also joined the jury of the Hyères fashion festival this year, which was headed by Lim and Leon.
