Fashion week: music from the Milan Shows

Philipp Plein

Angel Haze was the surprise showing at Philipp Plein. The 22-year-old Detroit-born rapper performed next to a ‘dead’ cowboy at the finale of the German designer’s show. “I’ve been to shows in America, and they’re never production-wise anything like this,” she told WWD. Her first album “Dirty Gold” out now.

Prada

The music at Prada was created by sound artist Frédéric Sanchez who mixed “The Ballad of Sexual Obsession by Nina Hagen” and Ben Frost’s “Peter Venkman Pt. 1” (Gluteus Maximus remix) with live lyrics adapted and performed by L’Usignolo (the concert group are named after “The Nightingale”), Pina Bausch elements and transcriptions by Kurt Weill.

John Varvatos

The rock and roll-obsessed designer couldn’t help himself in Milan. He recently bagged rock ‘n’ roll legends Kiss as the stars of his Spring-Summer 2014 campaign (check out the video here), so it came as a fun surprise when the final models appeared in full Kiss makeup. However, the excitement really ramped up when the musical stars themselves appeared on the runway at the finale.
