Christie’s launches ‘The Watch Shop’ online

Christie’s announced a cool new way to get your hands on some of the world’s rarest timepieces, however, unlike the company’s usual auctions, you won’t have to put your paddle in the air.

Launched this month, ‘The Watch Shop’ stocks 30 exclusive models, with new watches added every Wednesday, and the pieces will be available to buy immediately year-round.

“Our new site sells watches of uncompromised quality, vetted by our team of watch specialists, at competitive prices which are often better than those found in stores both online and offline,” explained John Reardon, International Co-Head of Christie’s Watches. “The vision of Christie’s Watch Shop is clear: we will scour the world for the best examples of vintage and modern watches and offer them to our clients at the best prices for immediate purchase.”

The highlights from May and June model range from a day date Rolex for $9,000 with prices ranging up to $200,000 for a Patek Philippe Geneve model. All the original boxes and certificates of authenticity will be available wherever possible.

The Watch Store will also feature exclusive content including ‘The Vault’ (watch news, interviews, and specialist analysis), ‘Deconstructed’ (which takes a closer look at specific models), and ‘Videos: Dialed In’ (which features Christie’s specialists guiding you through the collection).

Exciting as it is, the news won’t change the company’s eight annual watch auctions taking place in New York, Geneva, Hong Kong and Dubai.
