Chanel to take Métiers d’Art show to Austria
Just days after its May 1968-inspired ready-to-wear extravaganza at Paris’s Grand Palais, Chanel has announced that it will be touching down in Austria this December for the Métiers d’Art (pre-Fall) show.
The last three years have seen the brand take on Bombay, Edinburgh, and Dallas as the locations for the pre-fall show, with clothes designed to celebrate the company’s craftsmanship, while also shining the spotlight on the aesthetic of the city in question.
As usual the collection will show off the talents and unique expertise of the specialist ateliers owned by Chanel including costume jeweler Desrues, feather dresser Lemarié, embroiderers Maison Lesage and Atelier Montex, shoemaker Massaro, milliner Michel, and (a newer acquisition) cashmere producer Barrie.
The historic old city is well known as the birthplace of Mozart, and is famous for its romantic castles and rococo palaces, including the 18th century Schloss Leopoldskron (located on the edge of the Lake Leopoldskroner Weiher) which will host the runway show on Tuesday, December 2.
