A Recap of the British Fashion Awards 2016

The 2016 award season has begun, and so far fashion has seen some big winners. The British Fashion Council held the BFA’s at Royal Albert Hall on December 5th, in London.

The British Fashion Council revamped this year’s awards in partnership with their lead sponsor Swarovski, turning it into a global event. The BFC intended to bring a global persona to the event, and specially honoured Ralph Lauren to attract roughly 4,000 guests who not only work in fashion, but fuel fashion. The production of the event was under pressure to scale with the impressive list of winners, and to amplify the British Fashion Council, and their supporters.

The chairman of the BFC, Natalie Massenet, told Business of Fashion in April 2016 that, “We aspire to create an event that is like a mix of the Academy Awards and the Met Ball, on a Global Scale.” BFC also partnered with E! Entertainment, which has shown red-carpet arrivals and designer profiles on television in the US and Europe since last year.
