Flash dance (1983)
Flashdance, despite being canned by the critics, was dubbed “a preposterous success” by the guardian upon its release. Its success meant the youth of the eighties started following dance fashion, which included leggings and leg warmers, leotards and baggy off the shoulder sweatshirts with small plimsoles. The dance craze of the eighties was catapulted from the studios and gyms into streetwear due to films such as Flashdance, Footloose and Fame.
