Carpet Backing Cloth (CBC)

Carpet backing cloth is primarily made of jute. It is constructed of a plain open weave and is used so that high quality fabrics can be woven into it. It is very stiff and adds dimensional stability to the carpet. Many companies nowadays treat the backing fabric so that it is mould, mildew and rot resistant, as it is an integral part of the carpet structure. Although jute is usually used, other fabrics such as polyurethane or other natural fibres are now being used more frequently.
