Brilliantine
Brilliantine is a fine, lustrous cloth with a cotton warp and a worsted or mohair weft. It is very similar in its appearance to alpaca. Brilliantine was popular throughout the mid 19th and 20th Centuries and is a woven fabric. It is woven in either a plain or twill weave and was used mainly in dresses and linings, as it comes in both plain colour dyed fabrics and could also be printed with a pattern. Brilliantine is lightweight and is known for its dust-shedding properties.
