Paris fashion week: highlights from day 8

Chanel
After transforming the Grand Palais into an art gallery or a theater in ruins in recent seasons, Karl Lagerfeld transformed the venue into a supermarket, where models walked the runway between aisles of colorful bottles and jars and produce displays. In keeping with the décor, the clothes were relatively casual and often paired with sneakers, just as in the label’s recent haute couture show. Of course, Chanel’s signature tweed was seen in vibrant colors in suits, sneakers, and even sunglasses. Metallic fabrics were another major theme, seen in pants, dresses, sneakers and outerwear.

Agnès b.
Soft colors and soft, often lightweight fabrics characterized the latest agnès b. collection, presented at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Bright colors were omnipresent, often with a metallic sheen, whether in dresses (green, electric blue) or ankle socks. The collection featured a variety of prints ranging from abstract motifs to detailed landscape prints, one of the season’s top trends. The designer also unveiled a number of more classic looks in black and white, often featuring mid-length skirts and collared shirts.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
The French designer stayed true to his style, presenting a colorful collection with a healthy dose of arty prints. The runway saw an abundance of coats: multicolored and monochromatic, accented with ruffles, pleats, or characteristically JC de Castelbajac prints (birds, stars, stylized faces). Among the dominant colors in the line were camel, midnight blue, coral, fuchsia and bright green. In line with the season’s trends so far, fur was featured prominently, particularly in hats and scarves.
