Paris fashion week: highlights from day 1
Corrie Nielsen
The British designer lived up to the fashion world’s high expectations through this collection emphasizing volume, with pieces that were generously sized at the hips but tiny at the waist. Veils and capes were among the top accessories worn by the models.
Christine Phung
The French designer invited her audience on a trip into the mountains, or more specifically, on a ski vacation. A multitude of sweaters and other wool and cashmere pieces set the tone, calling to mind a retro ski resort style. In fact, the signature piece of this collection is none other than a ski sweater with a patchwork of wool and cashmere fabrics. In spite of the wintry tone, the designer made room for a few ultra-feminine dresses in a bright orange print.
Tex Saverio
The young Indonesian-born designer made waves with this Fall-Winter collection, which was both refined and highly original. The pieces played with volume (with ample shapes in skirts, pants and dresses or in jackets, capes and tops) and with transparency. Black dominated the color scheme, which also included touches of gold and silver. The most stunning piece of the collection: a fire red laser-cut cape.
Pascal Millet
The designer presented a particularly glamorous Fall-Winter 2014-2015 collection, both in terms of the tailoring and the colors seen on the runway. The pieces in this line are very fluid and are either very long (coats, dresses) or ultra-short (dresses and short jumpsuits) but always tasteful. The tailoring accented the models‘ waists, and the collection included a few prints, including one with a star motif.
