LFW: highlights from the final shows
Ashish
Ashish Gupta’s star is on the ascendant, and he went for plenty of sparkle for his latest collection which saw sequins and crystals layered on top of denim and bright metallics. It was something of a diversity win, with an all-black cast of models, including former „America’s Next Top Model“ contestant Chantelle Brown-Young, who is also a spokesperson for vitiligo sufferers. To top it all off there was also a cheeky wink at the gods of pop culture with a Kim and Kanye sequin sweater.
Meadham Kirchhoff
Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff ripped up the past few seasons of twisted Victorian prettiness for Spring/Summer 2015, and sent out a punky, spunky, funky collection which seemed to blend 1980s kids‘ TV and a Soho fetish club. ‚Batty Boy‘ t-shirt prints, sheer layers, leather trousers, lace, and revealing cut-outs on pants, skirts and tops all caught the eye, worn by models cast in an open call in London last weekend. Despite all the aggro attitude there were certainly lustworthy pieces, from the boots with wraparound laces, to the bright outerwear.
Emilio de la Morena
The Spanish designer went back to a glamorous version of the 1980s in his latest collection, opening with a series of slick sequin and metallic cocktail dresses, featuring sexy-yet-chic thigh splits. These were later joined by a series of looks in an abstract butterfly wing print in pastels, bodice jumpsuits, slinky lurex and an abstract animal jacquard fabric. Footwear also toed a classic line, with satin peep-toe sandals and metallic and patent leather pumps.
