Freja Beha Erichsen creates capsule collection
Freja Beha Erichsen has been off the fashion radar (if that’s possible for one of the industry’s biggest stars) of late, but she’s returned to the headlines with an exciting new project. The 25-year-old starlet, who appears regularly in advertising campaigns for some of fashion’s biggest hitters including Saint Laurent, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada is now turning her hand to design.
After appearing as an actress in one of Karl Lagerfeld’s movie projects, she’s added another string to her bow, collaborating with Mother on a clothing capsule, with a percentage of proceeds going to humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières. She worked with Mother cofounders Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding to design the pieces, which hit stores in September and will retail between $145 and $300.
Having walked in over a thousand runway shows over the past decade, Freja has announced she’ll be taking a break from the catwalk and will skip the coming fashion weeks: „it just felt natural, at a point, not to do as many shows,“ she explained to Style.com.
Freja is part of a growing trend of models dipping their toes in the world of fashion design. Jeans seem to be a popular starting block — earlier this year Karlie Kloss unveiled her collaboration with London based fashion brand Frame Denim. The Forever Karlie collection was specially designed for tall, skinny girls who struggle with regular sizes. Oh the poor things!
