Ferragamo Creative Director Resigns
Late last Thursday Ferragamo announced that the creative director, Massimiliano Giornetti, is stepping down. Giornetti will be replaced with the in-house design team that has been curated over the last several years.
After 16 years with the house, Giornetti made the decision earlier this month to resign. A statement from the company reads as follows “On March 1st, 2016 Massimiliano Giornetti has resigned as creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo for just cause. Massimiliano Giornetti started working at Ferragamo in 2000, spending the last 6 years as the brand’s creative director. Under his creative leadership, Salvatore Ferragamo has seen constant growth in revenue and in the brand image. ‘I wish to thank still the Ferragamo family for the invaluable professional opportunity given to me in these years of mutual collaboration,’ said Massimiliano Giornetti.”
Michele Norsa, Salvatore Ferragamo chief executive, commented on the shift, stating that, “Over the years, the company has discovered and supported so many young talents and today can count on an excellent in-house creative team. We’ll seize this opportunity to revisit our approach to creativity.”
Unlike most shifts recently, it seems Giornetti’s resigning will not result in the rise of another singular talent, but will make way for a team of talents to continue the Ferragamo legacy.
