Fashion films of the week: Fendi, Chanel, McQueen
Fendi
Directed by Karl Lagerfeld, the latest fashion film from Fendi, „Invito Pericoloso“ (or ‚Dangerous Invitation‘) stars Cara Delevingne, Saskia De Brauw and Amanda Harlech. It’s campy brilliance straight out of the Hammer Horror genre: „there’s so much food. I’ve lost my appetite,“ says Cara, staring wide-eyed at a lavish spread. Who said models don’t have a sense of humor?
Chanel
With its repeated ‚Once upon a time‘ refrain, and its slick graphical black and white aesthetic, this three-minute clip explores some of the fascinating history behind the brand and the story of how Gabrielle ‚Coco‘ Chanel became a fashion icon.
Alexander McQueen
McQueen hired renowned filmmaker John Maybury to direct this visually lavish exploration of its Fall-Winter 2013 menswear collection. Featuring experimental mirrored shots and moulded perspex face masks, it’s a trippy yet rewarding way to spend eight minutes.
