Diesel takes to the runway in Venice
Held at the Arsenale di Venezia, the Diesel show opened with punky, zippered leather looks. As usual, there was plenty of denim, which arrived patchworked, splattered and sprayed with paint and bleach. This was then followed by olive military drab which matched the biker/army boot-inspired footwear.
Colorful dyed faux fur arrived to embellish the coats, and then appeared as animal ears and mohawks on the balaclavas worn by the models for the finale.
Celebrity guests included fellow designers Dean & Dean Caten of DSQUARED2, Andreas Melbostad of Diesel Black Gold, Marni’s Consuelo Castiglioni Marni, and Viktor & Rolf. Fashion editors like Franca Sozzani and Anna Dello Russo and rock ’n‘ roll legend Courtney Love were treated to a musical performance by Brooke Candy.
The off-schedule show was designed to draw attention to Diesel outside of the regular fashion week calendar, and fits into a wider trend. Fellow Italian brand Versace has recently shown a series of collaborative collections for the Versus line away from the noise of fashion week.
