Blue Farrier out at Issa London

Posted on

Issa London announced Wednesday that Blue Farrier has left to explore new opportunities. Farrier worked at Stella McCartney in London, and then spent six years at Chloé in Paris, before she joined Issa in May 2013 where she replaced founding creative director Daniella Helayel.

It’s a surprise move after such a short tenure (Farrier produced two runway collections for Issa), but the company has announced a continued emphasis on a long-term brand evolution, with the future collections set to be created by the in-house design team under the supervision of the owner Camilla Al Fayed.

„I wish Blue all the best with her future endeavors and want to thank her for her part in starting the brand’s process of evolution,“ explained Al Fayed. „We have an exceptionally talented Design Team in place and I have every confidence in their ability to continue the brand’s development within the market place.“

Despite the obvious question of where Blue Farrier might be off to, the main takeaway trend is for the growing confidence of brands to operate without a brand-name creative director (despite the recent Galliano appointment). Fellow luxury Londoner Mulberry has also relied on the talents of its in-house team since the departure of Emma Hill in September 2013.
