MAKE-UP: DRAMMATIC EYELINER
Smoldering eyes are a definite way to dress-up the face with both Egyptian and cat eyes accentuating brightness and being able to change the shape.
- Lanvin – AW12/13
- Moschino – AW12/13
- Anna Sui – AW12/13
- Lanvin – AW12/13
More dramatic and larger flicks were seen at Lanvin, extending the length of the eyebrow. Moschino opted for a paired down flick, both shorter and more sustainable for daywear. For a touch of creativity look to Anna Sui who used neon blue flicks along the eye, or Emporio Armani who used cherry-red flicks starting halfway along the eyelid.
MAKE-UP: ROSY CHEEKS
- Dolce & Gabbana – AW12/13
- Temperley – AW12/13
- Michael Kors – AW12/13
- Mulberry – AW12/13
The quintessential ‘English Rose’ is synonymous with rosy red-come-pink cheeks. For a fresh and feminine finish Dolce & Gabbana and Temperley used a soft pink blush leaving the rest of the face natural. The more overtly colourful was seen at Michael Kors with brighter pink cheeks that were positively shimmering. Mulberry took to pink / peachy tones for a warmer glow.
MAKE-UP: RED LIPS
Statement lipstick is a sure way to implant a burst of colour onto any face and with any outfit.
- YSL – AW12/13
- Viktor & Rolf – AW12/13
- Rick Owens – AW12/13
- Nina Ricci – AW12/13
- Marc by Marc Jacobs
Red was the predominant colour this season as darker and more gothic shades took hold at YSL and Viktor & Rolf. Worn with a nude face, brighter red at Rick Owens, Nina Ricci and Marc by Marc Jacobs contoured the lips for a plush finish.
HAIR: SIDE PARTINGS
- Christian Dior – AW12/13
- Cacharel – AW12/13
- Diane Von Furstemberg
- Nina Ricci – AW12/13
- Matthew Williamson
Side partings are for anybody: be it sleek and sculptured for a contoured face as seen at Dior, Cacharel and Diane Von Furstenberg or softer more feminine and relaxed approach as used by Nina Ricci and Matthew Williamson. This trend is wearable and low-maintenance.
HAIR: PLAITS, BRAIDS AND TWISTS
Inserting a spot of ingenuity into any style, braids, twists and plaits give added oomph to a conglomerate of looks.
- Mulberry – AW12/13
- Emilio Pucci – AW12/13
Reliving our youth, plaits are perfect to incorporate into up-do’s like Mulberry, or to create Grecian Goddess headbands like that at Pucci.
- Gucci – AW12/13
- Valentino – AW12/13
- Fendi – AW12/13
Keeping things simple, Gucci used loose and relaxed twists in comparison to Valentino whereby the twists sculpted the hair. For quirkier look Fendi used futuristic braiding.
HAIR: DYED HAIR
- Pringle of Scotland – AW12/13
- Prada – AW12/13
- Yohji Yamamoto – AW12/13
- Jean Paul Gaultier – AW12/13
Simple dyed and highlighted hair is a thing of the past. Dip dye, as seen at Pringle of Scotland has been a predominant theme in a variety of colours ranging from green, blonde or pink. Ombre hair or graduated highlights allow for a tone-tone effect seen at Prada and more outlandishly at Yohji Yamamoto. For a reversed aesthetic, root-dye in a separate and more distinct colour was the preferred touch at Jean Paul Gaultier.
