MFW: quirky retro at Prada

Posted on

Gemma Ward made her runway comeback at Prada Thursday night. The Australian model, who has been away from the industry for six years, opened the show in a contrast stitched, double-breasted coat which set the tone for this typically off-the-wall (the runway was lined with piles of lilac sand) show.

Models wore knee high-socks worn with clog-style boots and sandals, plenty of stunning brocade fabrics, and Asian cocktail dresses, while leather coats and skirts were also prevalent. If the color palette was pretty autumnal for a Spring show, there was also a hint of the colder seasons in the materials, with the collection’s patchwork furs, rib-knit sweaters and vests.

The beauty look was typically Prada: wet look hair pulled back with a few flyaways sitting on models’ foreheads, worn with bold eyebrows, winged eyeliner and nude lips. Another noughties fashion A-lister, Dutch model Lara Stone, closed the show.
