LFW: Sunday highlights
Jonathan Saunders
The Glasgow-born designer played with metallic eyelets this season, with the cutout rings appearing across the collection from patent leather footwear to tailored coats and pants. Elswhere it was all about lightness, with leaf cut-out shapes in blue, white and caramel colors, big bows, paper-thin summer dresses and the shimmer of appliqué pinstripes on eveningwear. Metallics appeared as lamé pieces and luxurious gold snakeskin sandals.
Topshop Unique
Always a celeb-spotters dream, both on the runway and on the front-row, this season’s Topshop show was opened by the brand’s latest campaign star Cara Delevingne and featured plenty of big-name models in the mix. The collection featured a bold and rich mix of British seaside-inspired blue and red color blocking, moving on to sleek metallic pleats and slinky sheer party frocks with colorful embroidered details.
Marios Schwab
Footwear at Schwab was a mix of stunning strappy heels and sensible flats. The show featured another trenchcoat remix (this Greco-Austrian knows what London’s all about), followed by more sharp tailoring in teal, cream and gray. The classical influences behind the collection shone through in monochrome photo prints of statues with orange highlights, and a series of sheer silk looks with embroidered Grecian motifs.
