CFDA names Instagrammer of the Year

Patrick Janelle, who goes by the Instagram handle @aguynamedpatrick, has been handed the CFDA’s debut Fashion Instagrammer of the Year prize. 

“I’m honored (and so excited!) to be a nominee for the very first @cfda fashion instagrammer of the year award,” posted Janelle last week when the shortlist was first announced, before unveiling a series of looks by New York City-based designer Thom Browne. On Monday he was unveiled as the competition’s winner after topping the public vote.  

A self-described “man about town” according to his profile, Janelle is the director of the Spring Street Social Society, an events company based in Manhattan, and has previously worked in graphic design and as an actor. He’ll be covering the CFDA Awards as the event’s official Instagram correspondent.

The annual fashion awards, which will be hosted by film director/screenwriter John Waters, are set to take place Monday night in New York City.
