Versace
Versace Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Donatella Versace literally sent her message walking down the runway. The words, “equality,” “unity,” “courage,” “loyalty,” and “love” could be seen emblazoned across dresses, skirts and tops. The woman she is designing for believes in all those things, as well as her right to be bold and sexy. And it read in the collection. Black was the dominant color with vibrant blues, oranges, yellows, and reds thrown in for balance. Versace worked in some of her cropped, boxy silhouettes from the FW16 collection, but for the most part it was quite fresh in its use of inventive cuts and proportions. The edginess of the collection was offset by the feminine detailing of ruffles and floral embroidery. We especially love the striped mesh dresses which we could imagine in the closet of our bold and sexy muse. Womanhood has been at the forefront this season, and it only makes sense given the audience. Versace, who has been a champion of women and the female form for years, made sure not to skip a beat and propel that conversation even further.
