Spring-Summer 2013 – As the man himself pointed out, Costume National has grown by 25% in the last three years, primarily caused by the Asian market. That said, he worked a more minimalist look perhaps ensuring much selling potential due to the wearability of the clothing. This was aided with the use of block colouring such as pink with purple, blue with navy and solid black and purple. The concept developed from the collaboration between ‘pop n roll’ and ‘rock n roll’ evidenced with the graphic prints found on tops, trouser legs and dresses. The idea was to show the DNA of Costume National: the want to show the nitty-gritty details of what makes the brand what it is. This consisted of asymmetric cuts, tuxedos and plenty of tailoring. It was a story of development: maxi skirts with half a side missing, one legged trousers, one-sided blazers, along with folds and swaths sewn onto tops and dresses. Though the clothing was minimalist, it was sharp and chic with added touches of ingenuity.
