Marni
Marni Woman Spring Summer 2017 – Marni was awash with quirky architectural beauty. The show commenced with a collection of oversized jackets and coats in pure whites and buttery creams. Large sleeves enveloped the models and clever draping made for a mannish yet elegant silhouette.
The colour palette slowly progressed into a vibrant rainbow succession. Snowy whites turned to bright fuschias. Green entered in mint and turquoise, followed by cobalt, navy and black.
Shapes were flowing with pleats fastened with drawstrings. Sleeves often reached beyond fingertips and hemlines grazed the mid-calf. Shoes were given an extended point, making feet appear longer. These came in neutral hues with a pop of lemon or pink on the heel.
Large knapsacks clung to the models hips, one on either side. They added a classic structural element previously unseen for bum bags. Rather than being convenient or accessorial they were a main focus of the look. They cinched waists and enlarged the appearance of hips, adding shape and dimension to the silhouette.
