Temperley London
Autumn-Winter 2014/15 – Embracing a unique series of prints and re-inventing her brand this season was Alice Temperley and her AW14 ready-to-wear collection.
Quite unlike Temperley’s previous collections, which have been filled with full length gowns and red carpet options, the shorter hems, stylish two-piece suits and series of outerwear gave this collection a far more wearable feel.
Inspired by the designer’s clear interest in art were the series of prints within the collection. The various floral prints present in the range added a layer of romanticism, whilst the tile and mosaic prints felt reminiscent of cathedral style tile patterns. Collectively, the variety of different prints came together to make the collection both memorable and striking.
Shape-wise; this was an incredibly feminine collection. Ranging from a selection of loose fitted shawls and blanket scarves to tight fitted bodices and sculpted waistlines, Alice Temperley’s designs hugged the female form, came in perfectly at the waist and drew attention to its curves. Furthermore, the loose fitting capes and shawls felt beautifully draped, carefully placed and added a layer of sophistication to the collection.
Overall, the Temperley London collection flowed and swayed with ease and, with the shorter skirts and outerwear options, it felt far more accessible and suitable for every day wear than Alice Temperley’s previous collections.
