Etro
Etro Woman Spring Summer 2017 – It came as no surprise to see the Etro show filled with a tribe of hippy travellers. Models walked like a nomadic clan, sporting garments from their world wanderings. They sported traditional African tribal shapes and Moroccan prints. This ethnic bohemian look is inextricably Etro. The two are joined at the hip.
The show opened with monochrome looks, which whilst black and white were far from boring. Etro’s classic paisley print was paired with stripes of all sizes. There were wide leg trousers, low V-neck shirts and silky midi dresses. All of which were fixed with thin black plaited belts.
Classic colours then began to filter on the runway; earthy oranges, mustard yellows and bright greens were accessorised with pops of pink, red and blue. Tribal embroideries and native prints were layered, panelled and combined to create intricate detailed patterns. Weightless maxi skirts billowed under structured embroidered jackets. Tassels hung from kaftans, shorts and swishing duster coats and vast scarves hung around the body.
Stripes stood out against the more complex patterns, adding a new twist to the brand’s classic look. They created a noticeably more modern feel that revamped the SS17 collection.
