Daks Woman Spring Summer 2017 –Daks Spring Summer collection for 2017 suggested a historic inspiration, from 19th century India. This combined with some more modern, present day accessible looks created an uncomplicated, refined catwalk.
The influence of an Indian past was easily identified as models glided down the runway. Both male and female models wore tunic styles on their upper bodies, layered over loose fitting trousers. Another style was long shift dresses and knitted blouses, shirts and gowns. In addition to these a key trend was the draping of fabric, with silk and tartan draped tops, and baggy harem-like trousers for both males and females. Each of these looks was completed by beaded belts, necklaces and earrings.
The collection successfully united a number of tones and patterns. Linking to the Indian theme were the orange tones, burgundy’s and white and cream tones. These were all displayed in a variety of materials, including crochet dresses, metallic blazers, suede trench coats, silks and cottons.
Despite the easily identified historic theme many designs were of a modern perspective. Models walked down the runway in the brands signature check print, used for trousers, scarves and dresses. Orange and pale green florals were also identified, layered over grey trousers. The use of grey fabrics also referenced a consistent idea of a brand identified as being the creator of luxury British tailored garments.
