Schiaparelli Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2016-17 – With a clash of bold colors, varying lengths and accentuated shoulders, Schiaparelli have created this futuristic haute couture collection.  This collection features a plethora of different pieces including a tuxedo suit and in many pieces we see an androgynous theme running through.  Many pieces made with chiffon or silk in light pastel colors have a very feminine feel, while others are totally different.  It seems that there is a duality at play here as there is a tussle between very feminine and very masculine designs.  The designer sticks to simple shoes reminding us that the focus is on the dresses.

In some looks the makeup seems to be quite strange, with orange or red eye makeup and pulled back hair.  However, it is very clear that this furthers the futuristic feel of the collection breaking fashion boundaries and challenging beauty ideals.  A particular favorite is the dark blue chiffon gown with oversized shoulders and what resembles a constellation on it.
