Roksanda Ilincic pays tribute to Josef Albers with capsule collection

Work is underway on Roksanda Ilincic’s Mount Street store in London, but the Serbian fashion star (she’s recently dressed Michelle Obama and Duchess Catherine) hasn’t let that get in the way of a good-looking shop window!

In fact, the designer has teamed up with internationally renowned set designer and illustrator Gary Card to create a window display inside the building site.

“Opening our first store is a huge milestone for me. It is crucial that it is here in London, and this incredible Mount Street site is the perfect location. The store will be the home for the brand in more ways than one, and will be the ideal space for my vision for the label to be fully realised!” said Ilincic.

Hanging in the space, is an eight-piece capsule collection designed by Ilincic, which riffs on the blocks of colors in Josef Alber’s modernist, geometric canvases. The limited edition line was produced in collaboration with The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, and will launch exclusively with NET-A-PORTER.COM on November 6.

Top fashion architect David Adjaye, who has recently completed a new flagship store for Proenza Schouler in New York City as well as London spaces for Oswald Boateng, has designed the new boutique, which is expected to open in early 2014.

The project was unveiled in time for London’s Frieze Art Fair, which also saw Parisian brand Chloé launch “Chloé Attitudes,” a new book about the brand’s history and aesthetic.
