Proenza Schouler opens SoHo flagship

It’s been a fun time of late for Proenza Schouler. After a successful showing at last month’s New York fashion week, the designers recently announced an exciting makeup collaboration for Spring 2014 with cosmetics company MAC. Now founders Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are celebrating another coup, the opening of a brand new flagship store.

Designed by Adjaye Associates, the new boutique (the brand’s second in New York City and largest so far), is located at 121 Greene Street in the city’s SoHo neighborhood, and it contains the full lines of womenswear and accessories.

On entry visitors pass through a glass cage with sliding doors, designed to cocoon them from the street, into an environment featuring poured concrete staircases and benches, refurbished exposed floorboards, tesselated tiles in Kenya Black, Bardiglio and Lilac colored marble, and a giant two-storey-high steel screen.

Custom-developed furniture for the space was created by the brand in collaboration with designer Doug McCollough, brother of Proenza Schouler founder Jack.
