Chanel
Chanel Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – On National Women’s Day, Chanel gave ‘The Lady’ the ultimate modern, more youthful makeover.
Tweed suits in bright pinks, red and camel tones displayed a youthful vitality as a result of their slightly undone, deconstructed designs. There were cut outs, hints of sheer and an array of fabric and texture combinations that emphasised a more adventurous but still stylish and, most importantly, still silhouette-conscious style for Chanel.
Denim, in particular, added a sense of romantic practicality to the designs whilst the incorporation of leather ensembles alongside knitted sweater dresses and other softer eveningwear looks ensured that the collection played the line between classiness, all skirts remained firmly at knee-level or below, and understated attitude, bringing a modern touch to classic tailoring.
A strong sense of wearability was present throughout the collection, especially in the coat department. Forgetting the price tag, there was something very practical about many of the designs, with waterproof macs and trench coats lustworthy versions of winter staples.
A particular highlight was Kendall Jenner wearing a cropped leather hoodie with black trim detailing. Rebellion oozed from the tailoring but the design was also still girlish, especially as a result of its light colour and soft rather than structured hood.
The accessories also didn’t disappoint, with padded boater hats and multiple layered pearl necklaces evoking ladylike glamour but also a sense of fun and experimentation.
