Mugler
Mugler Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – It might have been an autumn-winter collection but thoughts were on warmer climes at Mugler this Paris Fashion Week.
An uniform of urban armour started the show with smooth laser-cut leather designs evoking a glamorous feminine take on Ancient Roman gladiators. Tasselled dresses and skirts with white scored details played the line between feminine strength and vitality, with the low scoop neck and crossover design of the black leather pieces developing into a stronger long sleeved plated armour look in dark brown.
Linking with the savannah-themed nature of the runway show, animal print had a significant impact in the collection too. Occasionally this was quite subtle, found in the black alligator-scaled inspired leather of the cuffs and notched collar line of tailored coats as well as the dark leopard print sheer panels of a sleeveless black mini dress.
At others it was especially stark, especially in the alligator-scale inspired leather skirt and popped open corset belt of one look and an off-the-shoulder body sculpting dress in the same material. Leopard print also got louder, with a bright yellow design popping as part of a drop-hemmed dress as well as in a similar skirt teamed with a wide sleeved high-neck jumper.
These then developed into slightly contrasting evening dresses, with cut outs, low V-neck necklines and thigh-high slits taking the collection in an increasingly provocative direction.
