Alexis Mabille
Alexis Mabille Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – Inky blues, scarlet reds and feline inspired creations were key elements of Alexis Mabille’s latest collection.
Structure and movement were combined in billowing trousers, often blue and occasionally pinstriped, teamed with slinky shirts with undone necktie components or shoulder enhancing ruffles. The jackets had a similar feel, favouring a thigh length suit style with structured shoulders but a tendency to flow out at the bottom or wore with arms outside the sleeves.
Cat prints were also a common theme with blue felines appearing in version positions, including upside down, on shirts and coats at the beginning of the show. This made a second look almost necessary to identify the pattern and the simple tailoring of the trousers and suit jacket paired with it allowed for this, emphasising the playful nature of the designs alongside their formality.
A particular highlight was a black velvet dress with dotty sheer fabric cut outs that revealed the heads of two jaguars squaring off against each other across the chest. The result was a sexy design, emphasising once more the feline beauty of the collection and whilst the shape drew attention to the models’ exposed stomach, the incorporation of long sheer sleeves and coordinated tights ensured it was more fun than provocative.
