Autumn-Winter 2013/14 – Some might say, Couture means nothing without the house of Valentino. What they offer  is perfection with their presentation of ultra-feminine gowns. However, the past few seasons have seen a darker side from the brand, a move on from the tulle lace and billowing chiffon textiles. Their AW13/14 collection was a representation of this. The palette consisted of dark browns, beige, nude and black with a delicate lift from red and yellow hues. The silhouette was structured and boxy. Square cropped tops and sculpted jackets with bell sleeves sat above restricted pencil skirts. Dresses were streamline against the body, some were worn with cape-like jackets draped across the shoulders. There was little flesh on show, as necklines finished high and hems finished low. The focus was on the fabrics which were rich and heavy and embroidered with vintage floral detailing. It was lavish, but a definite move on from past seasons.
