Jil Sander
Jil Sander Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – As per the Jil Sander code, designer Rodolfo Paglialunga, presented a refreshing collection of clean, scandi-esque living completely loyal to the brand’s DNA.
An array of clinical coats represented what Jil Sander is known for; simple, straight to the point no-nonsense sophistication. There was no need for the decorations which were so prevalent in most AW shows such as frills or ruffles.
It was all about the cut and volume and manipulation of shapes, whilst still conveying a familiar minimalism. Paglialunga reworked loose shirt dresses to straightjacket tightness, this resulted in some mono sleeves and asymmetric necklines.
The roll necks came from thick knits, more lightweight thin knits with metallic shimmers were for translucent midi dresses. The colour scheme was mainly of monochromatic white and black leather, sometimes injected with greys and tweeds whilst crinkly fabrics added a worn-in appearance to slip dresses.
Oversized pantsuit provided a nuanced masculinity to an otherwise, feminine collection.
