Spring-Summer 2012 – One could not detract away from Gaultier’s fashion tribute to Amy Winehouse: the beehive, the eyeliner and the occasional cigarette were in memory of the much loved singer. Even so, when one looked away from this, one saw the talent, the brilliance and the beauty of Gaultier’s sizable collection. A conglomeration of glamour and sports luxe saw polo t-shirts with glitzy skirts and a back-to-front polo shirt dress in ivory sequins. JPG’s imagination ran riot as variety of coloured wigs adorned each outfit: smart tailoring, corsetry and an abundance of asymmetric lines cut in every way imaginable. Whilst one dress was doll-like, cute and pink with a voluptuous underskirt, another was tight, sculptured and adorned with heavy embellishment. The medley of styles, shapes and prints ended with an array of corseting, lace underwear and exaggerated bridal like headgear. Gaultier, once again, delivered a striking collection.
