Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – An unlikely marriage between Frank Zappa and Oscar Wilde, forget that they come from different eras, they are almost from different worlds, but this collection is proof that opposites attract. Dries Van Noten wanted to create a lighter mood with his looks, but stick to the fundamentals of the historic Dandy. In showing classic cut suits and high collared shirts complete with silk scarves reminiscent of a cravat, he achieved just that. His focus on hand drawn prints rather than digitally designed gave the collection a certain innocence, and his slipper-like shoes kept the elegance alive. The psychedelic rock notes were not to be missed in the bright colours of print and waxed jeans, slim trousers slightly short in the leg and velvets, thick knits and fitted jackets. It succeeded in putting some fun back into a time of austerity.
