Spring-Summer 2011 – There were many influences to this collection, I saw nods to the sixties and seventies and even the eighties. Set before a backdrop of old fashioned televisions and opening with the 1975 David Bowie song Golden years, it immediately makes us think: retro. It had a sort of Wall Street “greed is good” arrogance about it. The models all walked with a swagger, proud to be in obvious couture. The baggy, grey trousers, some high waisted, some checked, synched up with brightly striped braces and thick pinstriped suits were reminiscent of times of big mobile phones and red briefcases. She teamed these with a more punk look, showing PVC suits and ripped baggy jeans. There were denim waistcoats brushed with shiny psychedelic colours, floral and spray painted t-shirts worn with white trousers with thick brown pinstripes. There was the 1970s door to door salesman with his red and white tartan trousers and a white suit jacket, the Ivy League schoolboy with the candy striped sports jacket and the class clown with the peach satin suit and purple shirt. There is something for everyone in this fun retro collection.
