Spring-Summer 2012 – The gothic attitude of the Lanvin girl was heavily animated in her clothes, although one cannot deny the Lanvin girl was as polished as ever. Pearl encrusted crucifix pendants hung from her neck. Eagles created rings and belt buckles. Serpents either snaked on tops and trousers or were created by a concoction of beading made to coil around the neck line. Silhouettes adorned heavy jewellry fabricated by an exuberant number of necklaces. The colour palette – in the gothic way – was navy, black, grey although broken with snippets of white and tan. Broad, built up shoulders sculpted tops: they were often paired with high-waist pencil skirts. A poignant moment would be the tuxedo sleeveless jackets. They draped below the waist in navy and tan – sometimes with leather collars. Finally, chiffon dresses gathered at the neck before billowing out below the waist. It was a collection dedicated to the polished goth.
