Spring-Summer 2012 – The catwalk was transformed into a magnificent white seabed with giant shells, sea horses and that hidden gem – the pearl. With Florence Welsh singing live, the models morphed into sea creatures once taking to the runway. Cream dresses of sea foam set the mood and also the tone of the colour palette which started at soft creams before culminating in a amalgamation of black, pinks and turquoise. The symbolic tweed suits came with full skirts and jackets cut above the shoulder blade to reveal pearl studded spines. The variety of fabric treatments gave the clothes a sea like veneer: shimmering sequins, pulsating tulle, and lace composed dresses, skirts and jackets. Ostrich feather skirts depicted the sea bed and handheld pearl encrusted sea shells made clutch bags. The fabulous synthetics were couture standard. It was a wondrous collection once more for Lagerfeld at Chanel.
