Salvatore Ferragamo
Autumn-Winter 2011/12 – The mature woman oozing that sex appeal so transparent in Marc Jacobs’s collection was once more purported in Ferragamo’s AW show. Masculine white and black pin stripes and fine checks were given an ultra womanly guise with large slits up skirts and padded shoulders on suit jackets. In all, a polished collection with black and white dominating. Plunging neck lines emblazoned the dresses and whilst so many featured strapless and backless adornments, the masculine silhouette hit straight back in the guise of pinstripe waistcoats, blazers and trousers. It was a tale of two halves: masculinity against femininity, and Ferragamo struck a brilliant balance. Pussy bow chiffon blouses epitomised femininity, as did the thick white furs. By contrast, the fine wool made for business wear, the stiff leather handbags and the leather trench coats all encompassed a silhouette that adorned masculine traits. It was a sophisticated and sexy collection.
